Go Hybrid

It's Little Red Wagon time again and this week we have a great challenge offered by Janice.  She wants us to combine something digital with something stamped to see what we come up with.

I was recently introduced to a new to me stamp company, Kennedy Grace Designs.  This stamp was my first purchase from them and I love it!  I paired it with some digital paper from Samantha Walker and Nitwit Collections -

As always, I look forward to seeing what digital products you use and how you combine them with the more traditional stamps items.  Link up over at the Little Red Wagon so we can enjoy your creations, take a look at the makes from the Girlfriends while you are there.

Aloha,
Brenda

PS - I also want to share that I will be joining the DT over at Kennedy Grace.  Can't wait to show you more of their beautiful products!

Fur or Feathers?

It's time for another As You Like It Challenge.  This fortnight our challenge theme is to share you favorite between feathers or fur.  Use your favorite on your creation and tell us why it's your favorite.

This week our sponsor is:

This week my card is featuring Baker's Assistant from Sassy Cheryl Illustrations -

I had a parrot for many years that was dear to my heart. He talked and imitated cats and dogs which made everyone laugh, but you can't cuddle a bird like you can a furry creature. Dogs are my most favorite furry creature.  So now, back to you.

We would love for you to head back to the AYLI blog to link up your creations and to learn all the details about the challenge.  Besides, you know you what to see what the DT had created.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope your week is going well!

Aloha,
Brenda

Your's Only

Just a quick post to share another darling Sasayaki Glitter image.   I am honestly in love with so many of these darling images!  This cutie is called Your's Only and can be found here.  I used papers from an older Basic Grey stack called Picadilly.  He is colored with Copic markers and just a bit of Glossy Accents to make his glasses pop.

For more Sasayaki goodness you can stop in at the blog or join in on the fun on Facebook.  Thanks for stopping by!

Thankful Trifold Card Tutorial

I've gotten a request to share how this card was made.  I'm not sure where the idea for this folded card came from...it's pretty safe to say I didn't come up with it on my own.  Here's my take on a triple fold card and a really rough tutorial on how I made this one -

I cut a piece of cardstock 12" x 5 3/4".  I leave a bit extra in width so I can even up the edges after folding.  The finished card should be 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" but you could adjust and make it taller if you wish.

I used a scoreboard to score at 4 1/4", 7 1/4" and 10 1/4".

I folded the first score(4 1/4") into a valley fold using a bone folder to burnish.

Then I folded the second score (7 1/4") into a mountain fold and again burnished with a bone folder.

The last score line (10 1/4") was made into a valley fold and burnished.

It looks like this from the side

and this from the top.

At this point I would trim the card base to assure the ends are even and the height is as I intended.  Once that has been established I cut the design paper 1/8" smaller and adhered it to the card base.  For this card, I chose 3 different design papers and cut them into pieces 5 3/8" x 4 1/8", 5 3/8" x 2 7/8" and 5 3/8" x 1 3/8"

I adhered the two larger pieces to this side...

flipped it over and adhered the smallest piece to the other side and then folded it all together as shown in the very first picture.

Last of all I cut a piece of cardstock 1" x 10", scored it at 4 14" and at 8 5/8", wrapped it around the card and glued down after cutting a wide V and adding some gold cardstock beneath.  Slip this over your card and you're done!  Easy peasy, right?

Hopefully this is helpful.  I realize it's very rough, keep in mind it's my first tutorial and I need to learn from this.  If you have questions or suggestions, please leave in the comments and I will try to answer them.

Aloha,
Brenda

LRW #407

Sandy has a fun challenge for us today.  She wants us to use bows or arrows on our projects this week.  This was the perfect time to pull out a set I got awhile back and hadn't had a chance to ink up.  It also gave me a chance to use some of the yummy Distress Oxide inks...gotta tell you, they are so nice to stamp with, such great coverage.

Here's my card using "Go With It" from MFT -

It's always nice to have some cards in your stash to send when someone is having a tough go with life.  This should do fine.

Hope you can join us at Little Red Wagon this week!

Abstract Feathers

My card today is made with a beautiful Frantic Stamper background stamp, Abstract Feathers (FRA-CLG0B019) and the Elegant Thankful die (FRA-DIE-10279).  I stamped the image with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with Brutus Monroe's Copper Penny embossing powder.  The image was colored by blending Distress Inks onto the cardstock. This card has such a lovely shine thanks to the beautiful, intricate design.

Please take a minute to stop by the Frantic Stamper Facebook page to see the other wonderful creations made with this fabulous release!

Ladybug

There's a new sketch up at Sketch Saturday!  This is what we are asking you to be inspired by -

Here's my card using the darling Spring Ladybug provided by our sponsor, Star Stamps -

I took a little liberty with this sketch.  Hopefully you see the resemblance.  The DP is from Penny Black, Beau Garden and the cardstock is DCWV and SSS.  The darling image is colored with Copic markers with the sentiment being a vintage wood stamp from Endless Creations.

Thanks for taking a look!

I had the pleasure of using a digi provided by our sponsor.  This is "A Dunderton Abroad".  When I saw him, I knew exactly what I wanted to do -
I fussy cut him and placed him "in the jungle" using this Amy Tangerine photo frame and camera die.  I colored him up with my copic markers.  The papers are from Bobunny - Beach Therapy.
I hope you will have some time to craft this week and that you will share your creations with us over at the CRAFT Challenge blog for a chance to win.

I appreciate you stopping by!

Favorite Embellie???

It's time for another As You Like It Challenge.  This fortnight our challenge theme is to share your favorite embellishment.  Use this embellie on your creation and tell us why it's your favorite.

This week our sponsor is:

Here is my card, using my favorite embellishment (right now anyway), sequins.  The image is from 'Magnolias for Her' by Altenew -

It's kinda funny, I love embellishments but tend to use them rather sparingly...except for sequins, I LOVE THEM! I don't know if you can ever have to many sequins. I love the many beautiful colors they come in. I think I love them most because they can turn a simple design into something more interesting yet not make it difficult to mail.

We would love for you to join us over at the AYLI blog to link up your creation.  I'm looking forward to learning what the most loved embellishments are.  While you are there, check out the prize that's up for grabs and take a look at the gorgeous creations the DT made for you to see!

Aloha,
Brenda

Supplies:
Image:  Altenew Magnolias for Her
Paper:  SU!, Canson Watercolor paper
Ink:  VersaMark
Accessories:  Pretty Pink Posh sequins in Champagne, Spellbinders frame die, Brutus Monroe gilded embossing powder
Coloring medium: Peacock watercolors

Bugs and Slugs

Kate has a very fun challenge for us this week at Little Red Wagon.  She wants to see Bugs and Slugs on our cards.  I went with a From the Heart Stamps Faithful Friends digi called "Just Because"-

See the cute little bee on his shirt, that should work right?  I'm not sure why this coloring looks so blotchy, need to work on my photo editing I guess...but back to the topic at hand which is asking you to join us over at Little Red Wagon.  I'm looking forward to seeing what bugs and/or slugs you choose to showcase.  When you visit, be sure to leave the Girlfriends some love.

Rainbow Maker Day 1

Just a quick post so I can share my card in the class gallery over at Online Card Classes.  I had fun doing this distress ink blending but so appreciate Kristina's advice to use a light touch.

I used a Pink and Main stamp set that my friend, Aunty Dayna (aunty dayna's cards and things on Facebook) gave me.  Can't wait to try some of the other techniques from day one, just that perpetual problem of not enough time!

By using one of my new favorite dies, Double Fishtail Labels (FRA-DIE-09735) on top of the card panel, this card went together super quick which you can beat around the holidays.  I hope you're checking out Facebook, there plenty more to be seen over there.

Lizards in Love

I'm sharing a little Sasayaki Glitter August inspiration with you today.  There is a story behind this card if you stick to the end.  I honestly think these little Lizzies are absolutely adorable and I had such fun creating something they could camouflage to (is that how you would say it?).  Here's my card using Lizards in Love -

Here's the story.  I live in Hawaii and the little lizards on the card (whom I love) remind me of these lizards below which abound in and around my home (which I do not love) -

Some of them recently set up house in my air conditioner and quite honestly, they have no control over their bodily functions.  Usually I have a live and let live attitude when it comes to wild life, but these guys crossed the line.  I declared war on them and went after them with my vacuum cleaner.  I think for the time being I have won.  Hopefully they will just continue to play outside in our yard and laugh at us from afar (they have a high pitched laughing type call).

So, I will bring this little rant to a close and suggest that you check out the cute lizards from Sasayaki Glitter on Facebook and the Etsy Store and get your hands on some of these darling images!

Aloha,
Brenda
