Just Because

Happy Saturday everyone!  I wanted to share a card I uploaded to Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling to Challenge.  Splitcoaststampers is partnering with the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center for their sixth annual Hope You Can Cling To card drive to benefit those affected by breast cancer for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The challenge I'm hoping I entered was to use a fairy on your card.  I have been wanting to try Alma De La Rosa's great bokeh technique (video here) and thought it would work perfect with this cute little fairy image from The Cat's Pajamas Fairy Christmas.

I used Distress Ink in Fossilized Amber, Wilted Violet and Lipstick.  In looking at it now, I should have put a lot more stars on, but I'm sure it will cheer someone up if only by looking at that cute little puppy!

I sure hope you have a wonderful weekend.  If you are trick or treating, be safe and make some wonderful memories.

Aloha,
Brenda

Here's my card for this week using images from Melonheadz Illustrating (which happens to be one of my favorite digi stores):

I worked with the darling images from The Aloha Bundle.  I colored all the images with Copic markers.  The Hawaiian keiki (children) and flowers were fussy cut and added Liquid Pearls to the flowers.  I cut the circle card from the Silhouette Design Store with my Cameo.

I hope you will have time to stop by CRAFT Challenge to play along with us this week.  Be sure to check out the DT inspiration and to get more details about our wonderful sponsers prizes.  Thanks for dropping by!

LRW#313 - Ghosts and Goblins

Can you believe Saturday is Halloween?  It is very timely that Jan has chosen Ghosts and Goblins (or any Halloweeny creature) to be the highlight of out Little Red Wagon Challenge #313 this week (wow, perfect number for Halloween).

I chose one of my favorite Halloween images, 'Boo Y'all', from The Cat's Pajamas.  I just love Bunny and all his alter egos.  Here his cape is paper pieced to turn him into the Grim Reaper.  A little water color splatter on water color paper, a couple of Queen and Company Epoxy Dots and there ya go, a Goblin on a card.

You're probably already making Halloween cards, right?  Why not stop by Little Red Wagon Challenge and link up.  If you need some inspiration, be sure to stop by the Girlfriends blogs, they always inspire.  Can't wait to see your projects!

I would also like to enter the following challenges:

TCPTuesday #302 - Time to Unwind

Morning everyone!  Hope your week is off to a great start!  It's time for another TCP Tuesday Challenge!  We would love for you to play along with us for a chance to WIN!

Does it get any better than Anything Goes?  I love having the freedom to create using the mediums and stamps that inspire me.  I am currently in CAS/washi tape mode and therefore have a simple little Halloween Card to share with you.

I used watercolors to spatter the background watercolor paper and added a few strips of washi tape.  I cut one piece into slime using the very versatile 'Slime/Icicles' CutUps.  The cute mummy from The Cat's Pajamas 'Brains' set was stamped, colored and fussy cut and popped up in place.  Fast, easy, FUN!

I also was inspired by a Pintrest pin to create this cute little witches hat.  I used the 'Heart Rosette' and 'Petal Posie' CutUps to form the base of the hat and then just rolled a cone for the top.  The spider web and Boo stamps are from the Vintage Halloween set.  A feather and ribbon embellishment was added to top it off.  This was so fun to make and it will be a cute little decoration for work.

I am so hoping you will have time to join us a TCP Tuesday this fortnight!  We love seeing all your wonderful creative talent.  Be sure to check out the blog for further details on the challenge.  Remember, if you use TCP stamps you have the opportunity to earn more cat cash which equals more darling stamp sets...it's a wonderful happy circle.

Aloha,
Brenda

Spectacular Challenge at LRW

Happy Wednesday!  I have just a quick post to remind you about this weeks Little Red Wagon Challenge.  This week Heather wants us to us a tag on our creations.  I LOVE tags and had a hard time deciding which on to use.  Finally ended up with this...

I used a mix of stamps from different companies and my favorite tag from Reverse Confetti.  I have to confess, the metallic embossing powders was added to cover the white embossing powder that stuck where it shouldn't have.  I don't know tho, I kinda like the way the happy accident turned out!

Be sure to stop in to see the Girlfriends and leave them a little love.  Can't wait to see what you make for the Little Red Wagon Challenge!

You have your choice, you can do the sketch or the twist or you can do the two together like I did.  For this card I isolated one of the cute little Birdbrains from Flappy Birthday.  Instead of using paper, I used washi tape...I'm on a mission use some of my wonderful collection.  I used Copic markers to color all but the sky, which I chalked hoping to give it a floaty feeling.

your favorite, Color or monochrome and why.  You must explain why it is your favorite.

This week our sponsor is:

I have such a hard time...I love monochromatic, but I love color...it all depends on the situation.  I guess I tend to use colors more because I feel that color evokes more emotion.  This fun little image from Mama Elephant just screams that he wants fun, happy colors, so that's what I chose.

I hope you'll decide to play along with us this fortnight.  Let us see what you create and tell us why you chose the colors you did.

NO MORE...

Purple is the color of hope this month.  October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and purple is their color.  Becca Cruger is doing her part to raise that awareness by organizing The Hop to Stop. We must all say "NO MORE" to domestic violence.

My card today was made specifically for this hop.  It was quite simple to make, but is so full of symbolism for me.   You may not know, I work in a hospital and unfortunately have cared for several victims of abuse.  The "typical" victim does not exist.  I have seen all ages, all sexual orientations, all socioeconomic groups affected by devastating, life altering abuse both physical and/or emotional.  I pray for an end and thank those who are really making a difference for this cause.

Please stop by the Hop to Stop to get more information on Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Hop, the fabulous sponsors.

As always thank you for stopping by!

Aloha,
Brenda

We would love to see your take on our challenge this week, so head on over to the Little Red Wagon and link up your creation.  You know the Girlfriends will give you plenty of inspiration.  Why not head on over to their blogs to take a look and leave them a little love while you're there.

i {heart} sketches with a tWist #121

Hi everyone!  Before I tell you about the next challenge, I wanted to thank you for hopping along with our blog hop on Friday.  I loved all your comments, especially those of you that shared a little about yourself.  I really appreciate the time you took to share!  Stay tuned for the winners to be announced Wednesday, October 7!

On to the business at hand...it's time for a new i {heart} sketches challenge at From the Heart Stamps.  Here's the sketch with the tWist of keeping it flat.

This week I went for the tWist rather than the sketch.  It is so hard for me to do CAS, but this darling image can definitely stand alone!  I used snowman 17 and 18 from Faiths Project 100 Snowmen.  The name of this digi is appropriately enough, In the Meadow

All I did was print it out to fit my cardstock, color it up with Copic markers and add some Stampendous Chunky and Aged embossing powders.  You can't see the subtle blue glitter from the Aged Blue embossing powder, but it gives it such a nice winter wonderland look.

Remember, in this challenge, everyone is a winner.  For just linking up you will receive $1 credit for use at the From the Heart Stamp store.  You can use it as a discount or save up to get a free image.  For all the challenge details check out the blog here.  You'll also want to check out the inspiration the design team has for you this week, you'll not be disappointed.  I hope you have time to play along this week, can't wait to see your creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hope you have a week full of blessings!

Aloha,
Brenda

It's a Blog Hop!

Welcome to our From the Heart Stamps blog hop!  Our theme this month is 'Meet the Design Team' to introduce those of us that are new.  Our designers will be showcasing lots of gorgeous projects and telling us a bit about themselves, too.

As you hop along, please leave a comment on each blog.  One random commenter will be selected on each blog to win an image of choice from the FTHS store.  Additionally, we will have a game with great prizes on the FTHS blog!

If you have arrived from Angela's blog, you are in the right place, if not why don’t you start on the From the Heart Stamps blog, so you don’t miss anything.

Here is my project, using my very favorite image, Birdbrain Needs Coffee.  When I saw her, it was love at first sight!  For this card I used one of my favorite techniques, which is believe it or not, fussy cutting.  I find it very therapeutic after a long day.

Here are the supplies I have used to make my card:
Papers:  Basic Grey Grand Bazaar, Neenah cardstock, DCWV cardstock, SU! Kraft cardstock
Accessories:  Simon Says Stamps Coffee Cup die, My Favorite Thinks Pierced Circle die, Copic Markers

Here's a little bit about me:

What is something about you that none of the other team members know?
I work full-time in a hospital as a registered nurse/diabetes educator.

What is your favorite coloring technique?
I still consider myself a beginner, but I love Copic markers.

What is your favorite category of images in the FTHS store?
If you look around my blog, I think it is fairly evident that I LOVE BIRDBRAINS!!!

Describe your crafting space.
It’s my very small happy space, but it’s all mine!

Tips:

What is your best tip for taking good photos of your cards?
Have good lighting and a smart camera.

What is your best coloring tip?
Practice, practice, practice…and remember, it’s only paper. I often print extra images and on days when my mojo is missing, I color just for fun.

Thanks for hopping with us today. The hop will end on Monday October 5th at 6 am EST. Winners will be posted on the From the Heart Stamps Blog on Wednesday October 7th.

Now head over to Calypso's blog and take a look at her fabulous creations.

Thanks so much for stopping by and good luck!

Aloha, Brenda

I will also be linking this card to the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.
