As You Like it #59 - Fur or Feathers

Hi everyone!  Hope your week is going well and you see some crafty time in the near future.  The gang at As You Like It Challenge wants to know whether you prefer furry little creatures or feathery creatures and we want to see your creations.

This was an easy choice for me.  I love puppies and kitties and rabbits and teddy bears...anything soft and cuddly.  I like feathered friends also.  I had a large parrot who was very entertaining.  He could bark like a dog, meow like a cat, cry like a baby and talk like a human.  Until I lived with him, I had no idea parrots were so smart and had such personalities.  Gonzo still lives with my sister as he would have had to be quarantined to move to Hawaii.  He is about 34 years old now and with any luck should live to 50 or so.  OK...enough about birds and on to the bears!

For my card this week, I chose Johnny Bear from Purple Onion.  He is sooooo cute!  I had fun using this Sizzix Flip-It card die for the first time.  I will definitely be using it again soon, very easy with fun results.

Thanks for stopping in, I am looking forward to visiting your blogs  to see which your prefer.  Be sure to stop by the AYLI Blog for plenty of inspiration, my teamies are amazing!  Link up your furs or feathers for a chance to win!

Aloha,
Brenda

Thickers and Stickers and LRW, Oh My!

Welcome back to another week at Little Red Wagon! It's time for challenge #299.   This week the spotlight is on Janice, and she wants to see what we can do with Thickers or Stickers.

OK, so who's been doing this long enough to remember the Crop In Style Paper Sticker Binder?  I pulled my down, dusted it off and chose this little dino sticker from ProvoCraft...are they even still around?  Talk about a walk down Memory Lane!  I dusted his sticky back with some cornstarch and popped him up on this little birthday card.

I used this sketch as a starting point.

Thank you for stopping by.  Be sure to stop in an see what the LRW Girlfriends have come up with, you are sure to be inspired.  All the links are on the side bar, or head on over to the blog here.  Can't wait to see what you create!

BINGO

This week we have a fun BINGO Challenge for you at Top Tip Tuesday.

Our wonderful sponsor is:

Kenny K Downloads

For my card, I picked Kraft, Sentiment and Stitching and this is what turned out...

This is my second try at using Prismacolor and Derwent Colored pencils instead of the Copic markers and my first time coloring on kraft cardstock. I have a ways to go, but I have definitely done worse coloring.

My tip for this card is to always change your cutting blade when it is dull, but if it doesn't show itself until you have started, you can match the other side by using a distressing technique.

Be sure to stop by and see the DT creations, they are awesome!  Then link up your bingo inspired creation here.  Can't wait to see what you do!

Brenda

Sketch Challege for TCP TUES #294

TCP TUES is winding down and I'm getting in just under the wire again.  Here's the sketch which I converted to an A2 size card.

I have never met a TCP set I didn't like and as a result have quite a nice collection.  I had a hard time deciding what to color up because this is such a great, versatile sketch.  As it ended up, this cute little penguin was sitting on my table already colored up.  He is from one of my older sets which may have been retired.

Be sure to stop by The Cat's Pajamas Blog and take a look at the DT makes.  If they don't make you fall in love, nothing will.  Thanks for dropping by...welcome to my new followers, I so appreciate the opportunity to show you my stuff!

Enjoy your weekend!

CRAFT Challenge - Christmas

Welcome to CRAFT Challenge #320 - Christmas.

 Our sponsors this week are:

Stitch Bear's Digi Outlet

And

Yours or Mine Paper Crafts

This week I used an image from Sticky Bear called Doodle Deer.  I wanted to try foiling again and thought this would be a perfect image.  Unfortunately my photography skills are still in the beginner stages.  You can see some of the shine, but it is much nicer in real life.  I am very happy with the way the laminator works on laser printed images.

I am pleased to say this is my 23rd Christmas card!  Not too many more to do.

I hope you have time this week to join in on the fun.  Be sure to stop by the CRAFT Challenge blog here to check out the great makes by the DT.  I look forward to seeing all your wonderful creations.

Aloha,
Brenda

I'm So Excited...

for two reasons...

First, I am very happy to say I will be joining the fabulous design team at As You Like It Challenge!  These women are so creative and talented, I'm totally humbled to join this amazing group.  I love the premise of this challenge, to be able to enjoy creating something that showcases your style.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Sweet Pea Stamps.

This week we would like to know what your favorite color is and why, which leads me to the second reason I'm excited.

I have just recently become aware of a wonderful digital stamp company, From the Heart.  I absolutely fell in love particularly with the Birdbrain images.  I just think she (he?) is adorable.  Since blue is my favorite color, I used 'Inner Tube Birdbrain' on this card.  You will definitely be seeing more Birdbrains from me in the future.  I used their current sketch for this card.

So, back to blue.  I have always loved blue best, but I think one of the reasons I continue to love it is because it reminds me of the beautiful Pacific Ocean which surrounds our island home.  If you ever have a chance to visit, don't pass it up, it is so very beautiful here.

OK, enough words...head on over to the challenge blog if you didn't start there.  You are definitely going to want to check out the DT makes. We want to see your beautiful creations and why you love your favorite.  Can't wait to see your colors!

As always, thanks so much for checking in.

Aloha,
Brenda

PS:  I would like to enter this card in the following challenges -

Hot Dog!

So, how y'all been?  Are you ready for another LRW Challenge?  We are looking to Joanne for direction this week and she says the beach is where it's at.  So, we want to see your beachy creations.

I used some of my favorite TCP stamp characters, Poochie and Sprinkle to create this little beach scene.  Wish I was there right now, sipping' a little lemonade with Poochie.

If you can't be at the beach, the next best thing is creating your own, right!  OK,  maybe not, but if it's inspiration you are lacking, visit the Girlfriends.  Their creations are sure to elicit visions of sand and surf (links on sidebar).  Can't wait to see what you create!

Brenda

Under the Sea

I had some time to actually play in my room this weekend.  I wanted to use this sketch from Sketchbook Saturday

I also wanted to color up this gorgeous mermaid from A Day for Daisies.  The image is 'Mermaids Favorite Shoe'.  Their challenge this fortnight is to add some sparkle and this is what happened.

I mixed up several different embossing powders to create the "sand" and then added some Distress Crackle Paint in Broken China to create the "water".   I was a bit disappointed in the very small crackles, but afraid to add a heavier coat.  I used some very old Heidi Swapp tape and some washi tape to follow the sketch and then created the sky with Distress in sprayed with Pearl color bloom.  The color bloom gave it a pearly sheen that I couldn't catch with the camera.

The lovely mermaid was colored with Copic Markers and Stickles were added to her tail and her favorite shoe.  She was fussy cut and placed in her very own little spot in the ocean.

I would like to enter the following challenges:
A Day for Daisies - #125 Add some sparkle
Crafty Cardmakers - #143 Water
Dream Valley Challenges - Distressing
Ooh La La Creations - All that glitters

Thanks for checking out my blog!  I hope your week is off to a wonderful start.

Summer Fun with Top Tip Tuesday

Hi everyone!  Welcome to another Top Tip Tuesday Challenge.  This week I am hostess for our Summer Fun Challenge.  We want you to show us what summer fun means to you.

Our wonderful sponsor for this challenge is 2 Cute Ink.

For me summer fun = water fun.  Yes, I know, here we do water all year round, but I loved this little guy, Scuba Owl!  I would really like to see him doing a little standup paddling which is my favorite water activity.

I have to give credit for this layout to Nancy Thomas.  Check out her blog, Creative Palette.  When I saw her card, it was just what I had in mind!  I love being inspired when my mojo isn't flowing.

So, whatever summer fun is to you, show us your stuff!  Check out the challenge blog for all the details and if you need inspiration, the DT has plenty for you to look at.   I can't wait to see what you do.

Thanks for stopping in!

I Wheelie Love You

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I am trying to slide under the wire to get this entered in The Cat's Pajamas challenge.  Here is the inspiration:

Here's my take:

I took my inspiration from the bicycle with the wicker basket.  I used "Wheel Love", which to me was a no brainer.  I colored the image with Copic Markers and Sakura Souffle Pens.  I used the TCP Grass CutUps, a very old Sizzix sun die, Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Labels banner and the path was cut using Lawn Cuts Stitched Hillside Borders.  All the paper is from my scrap stash which makes me very happy.

I would also like to enter the following challenges:
Come and Get it Challenge - ATG with flowers
Pile It On - Hot Fun in the Summertime

Thanks so much for taking the time to look.  Also welcome to my new followers...this was such a nice surprise!

Happy Birthday America!

Can't let today go by without saying how blessed I feel to be an American.  I could expound on many things, many concerns I have...but I still feel it is one of the best places in the world to call home.  May God continue to bless America!

Nikki posted this wonderful coloring page on the Melonheadz website.  Won't it be fun to color?
