AYLI #106

It's time for another As You Like It Challenge.  This fortnight our challenge theme is to share your favorite reason to send a card other than a birthday.  We look forward to seeing your creations and learning what your favorite occasion is and why it is your favorite reason to send a card.

This week our sponsor is:

Here is my card, using a DigiStamp Boutique image, Beach Hut -

I love making cards to say hello and remind my friends I think of them often. I know I love getting unexpected "happy mail" and I'm sure they do too.  I have one dear friend who has all the cards I have sent her displayed at her desk.  The really funny thing is she works for the Hallmark Card Company.

I'm so glad you stopped by.  We would love for you to head back to the AYLI blog to link up your creation.  While you are there, check out the prize that's up for grabs and take a look at the gorgeous creations the DT made for you to see!

It's time for another CRAFT Challenge!  We would love for you to join us in making a project using the following recipe -

Our Sponsor this week is -

I used a Saturated Canary image that is unfortunately no longer available.  It is called Parade -

You can see my one image, colored with Copic markers, the 3 papers are by Taylored Expressions.  It's a bit hard to see but I used 2 red polka dot ribbon "flags" and glitter glue on the flags the girlies is holding and on her dress.
We hope you'll get a change to join us this week at CRAFT Challenge blog.  Stop by the blog to see the fab creations by teamies have made and link up for a chance to win Rick St. dennis images.

Aloha,
Brenda

Monster Mash (or Feature a Creature)

I don't know about y'all, but I'm really wishing time would quite moving so fast!  It's Wednesday again and that means we have a new challenge over at Little Red Wagon.  This week it was up to Janice and she's ready for a Monster Mash.  I believe this means she would like for use to use a creature of some sort on our projects.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I don't have any creature stamps except for the Halloween sort.  I ran across this cutie (in a monsterish way) little freebie who can be found here.  Here's my card -

Now that I've given you the link, you have your monster.  All you have to do is color him up and join us at Little Red Wagon.

Hopefully you arrived here from the super talented Julie's blog.

I'm sharing with you another design I made using the beautiful Doodled Shells.  I combined them with Watercolor Basics and a sentiment from Bunnies at Sea which seemed so appropriate for the project, a checkbook cover -

I stamped the shells on watercolor paper and heat embossed them.  I fussy cut them and used watercolors to add just a hint of color.   It was fun the make something I put right to use.

That's it for me except to remind you of TCP Tuesday that is kicking off tomorrow.  Those new stamps and dies you have to get will work into this months challenge purrfectly, Sand, Sea & Sky. Be sure to check out the deets below.  You are going to want to join for a chance to win BIG!

TCP May Sneaky Peek Day 3!

Happy Friday!  Sneak peeks from The Cat's Pajamas May release continue and what a great lineup of goodies we have to share with you this month.  We have 2 stamp sets, 2 CutUps and a new Z Card Cutable that will be available in the TCP store on May 30th.

Here's my first card using the sentiment from Doodled Shells and the beautiful Shell CutUps -

It just seemed so right to use watercolors, so that's what I did for this card and the next.  This second card combines the sentiment from Bunnies at Sea and Doodled Shells along with Watercolor Basics.

I used some Yasutomo metallic watercolors along with heat embossing on these beautiful shells.  The metallic paint gives it a nice shiny shell like iridescence in real life.  I think the Watercolor Basics splatters help give the illusion of sand.

The next card was so fun to make!  The Bunny, as usual, is continuing his very interesting life, this time as a scuba Bunny From Bunnies at Sea.  I found as I was cutting the waves with the Beach CutUps, the left over pieces looked like sea grass, so I added some to this fun scene -

My last card features Bunny, doing his Pirates of the Caribbean imitation.  I paired Bunnies at Sea with County Fair and Beach CutUps and a sentiment from Ship Happens, which resulted in this-

Here are the sets in toto -
Bunnies at Sea

Doodled Shells

Beach CutUps

Shell CutUps

Keep in mind your comments can pay off each day of the peeks.

For a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the store, leave a comment on the featured designer's blog. Winners will be announced on The Cat's Pajamas blog and Facebook page each day. Tomorrow you can look forward to the fab creations of the uber talented Julie Elak.

I'm so glad you stopped by, I had such a great time creating with these wonderful products.  I hope you'll join our May Blog Hop celebrating the newest release.

Unicorns and Rainbows

So Heather is in charge of choosing the challenge for us this week.  She is asking us to use a unicorn or a rainbow or both on our projects.  I happen to love unicorns and have several in my crafty collection.  I have chosen to use a freebie from Useless Trinkets.  I switched things up a bit and put a coffee mug in his hand -

I tried a new background technique using distress oxide inks and clear embossing powder.  It just kinda looked unicorny to me.  You can see the video here.

I hope you'll share you unicorn creations with use over at Little Red Wagon.  I know the Girlfriends will have some beauties to share if it's inspiration you need.  Don't forget, Heather will pick her favorites next week.

Brenda

Bunny Fur

It's time for another As You Like It Challenge.  This fortnight our challenge theme is to share your favorite color combination for skin or fur.  Use this combination  on your creation and tell us why it's your favorite.

This week our sponsor is:

Here is my card, using Lili of the Valley Bunny Trio Posey digi stamp -

My favorite colors to use for fur are usually any of the greys, but it kinda depends on what kind of fur I am coloring.  I especially love the Copic cool and warm greys because they just seem to blend so beautifully.  The combo I used here is C3, C5 and C7.  I used blending solution to mimic the furry look.   For details on this card see below.

I can wait to see your creations and I am really anxious to see if I can learn of any new skin combination.  We would love for you to head back to the AYLI blog to link up your creation.  While you are there, check out the prize that's up for grabs and take a look at the gorgeous creations the DT made for you to see!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope your week is going well!

Brenda

CRAFT 416

It's time for another CRAFT Challenge!  We would love for you to join us in adding to your Christmas Card stash.

Our Sponsor this week is -

Pink Gem Designs

Here's my card using Pink Gem Design's Christmas Owls -

The sentiment was embossed with an iridescent embossing powder that looks so wonderfully shiny IRL.  I used the pre-colored image which helped this card come together very quickly.

Be sure to check out the CRAFT Challenge blog if you haven't already.  The DT has some wonderfully inspiring creation and you can find all the details on the prize up for grabs.

Thanks so much for popping in.  The weekend is almost here!

You Are My Sunshine!

Yes, believe it or not, it's Wednesday again.  We have another great challenge for you over at the Little Red Wagon blog.  Sandy is our hostess and she has chosen You Are My Sunshine! to see what kind of projects you create using a Sun.

I chose this darling A Day For Daisies image, Curious Daughter.  Here's my card -

I just love her!  I used Distress Oxide inks to create the background and the sun.  I really messed up the waves below the rock, but I won't bore you with that.  Let's just say it looks better with the white pen than it did with the black glaze pen (RATS!).

I certainly hope you have the time to join use this week at Little Red Wagon.  It it's inspiration you need, pop in to visit the Girlfriends to see what they've created.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I pray your week is going well!

Happy Birthday Dear CRAFT Challenge
Happy Birthday To Us!

Can you believe it? CRAFT Challenge is already 8 years old. Originally started by Tracy from Just Tracy Crafts and with a DT mostly recruited from Trimcraft forum members (Hence the term CRAFT Challenge, which stood for Crafters Residing Are Friendly Trimmies. Or if you wished alternative meaning of Can't Remember A Flipping Thing) on the 4th of May 2009.
We have now grown to be a large team of Design Team Members from all around the world, supplemented with several Guest Designers who join us for a month or a week at a time.
We have always welcomed all kinds of craft, not just paper craft (unless specifically stated so in the challenge at the time) and are happy to have such a large group of faithful followers.
So, how are we going to celebrate this milestone?
Well, how else can we celebrate than to have our yearly Blogaversary Blog Hop?
