Dress Rehearsal

I have had a couple weeks off work recuperating from some eye surgery.  I have had activity restrictions, but a Copic marker weighs way less than 5 pounds so I have had fun doing some extra, joyful coloring.  I wanted to share a card I made.  The free image, Dress Rehearsal, offered by A Day For Daisies was just too beautiful to ignore.  I love ballerinas and I think this one in particular is so lovely and elegant.  Challenge 148 was to use vellum on your project.

Here's my card:

I printed the image on vellum and colored on the opposite side with Copic markers.  I decided to make is a simple shaker.  I love the way the little iridescent stars look in real life.  I used some wonky machine stitching to close it up.  I added some score lines on the card base and a little glitter glue to her skirt.  I will leave the sentiment for the inside once I have a use for this card.

I would like to share my card in the following challenges  -
A Day For Daisies - Challenge 148, use vellum

Supplies:
Image:  ADFD Dress Rehearsal
Paper:  DCWV Vellum, Mohawk Color Copy
Accessories:  Pretty Pink Posh Sequins and tiny stars, Copic Markers, Studio G glitter glue, sewing thread

i {heart} sketches with a tWist #154

Happy Memorial Day to those of you in the US.  This one of those holidays that make me reflect on all my blessings.  I am very grateful to all those who make our way of life possible.

Since it's Monday, it's time for another From the Heart i {heart} sketches challenge (and there is still a short time left for SOTM challenge).  This week we have a great sketch and a pretty simple twist, cuz all of you have mad coloring skills.

I am using one of the darling new images in the store, Nerd Girl Potion -

I felt this was a perfect sketch for her because it places the spotlight right on her.  I colored little Nerd Girl with Copic markers , did some hand stitching on the banners, added a few bubbles to her potion and that's all this card took.

I hope you'll be able to join us this week.  There are all kinds of cute new images in the store, I'm sure you will find something to suit you.

I also want to leave you with a teaser...you are going to want to join  our blog hop next week.  I promise, you will not be disappointed!

Thanks for stopping in today.  Hope your week is full of good stuff!

I would like to join in the following challenges -

Round and Round

Oh, my goodness, it can't be Wednesday already!  But its...and the good news is our Girlfriend, Mandy is running the show.  This week she wants to see roundness in our creations.  Her challenge is officially titled "Round and Round".  Which made me think of the song, Will It Go Round In Circles by Billy Preston.  It will NOT leave my mind -

I got a song that ain't got no melody
I'm gonna sing it to my friends
I got a song that ain't got no melody
I'm gonna sing it to my friends
Will it go round in circles?

Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky?
Will it go round in circles?
Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky?

Are you singing it now?  The darling image I used is by Darcie's Heart & Home art rubber stamps Barnyard Buddies -

I hope the circular direction I took is OK.  I went with a Sizzix Circle Flip-its, the name kinda says it all.  I also added a few circular embellies for a little extra roundness.  Looking back now, I suppose I should have used a red polka dot paper instead of gingham, oh, well, if I planned my cards things like that wouldn't happen.  As you probably realize by now, my cards just kind of happen, not sure how I would work with an actual plan.  Flying by the seat of my pants has always been my modus operandi and I doubt it will ever change at this point.

Enough blabber...time to head back over to the Little Red Wagon blog to she what all the Girlfriends have made.  Sure hope you have time to play along with use this week.  I would love to see how you interpret Circles!

Aloha,
Brenda

Bright Colors 315 week 1

Gosh, hi everyone.  I'm having a hard time believing it's time for a new TCP Tuesday Challenge, but it is.  For this challenge we are asking you to get out things with BRIGHT COLORS.

I love bright, happy colors and thought the cute little birdhouses from Take Flight would work perfectly for this challenge.

For this card, I stamped and then used the Birdhouses CutUps and inlaid the die cuts on white cardstock.  I used this picture as my inspiration.

Here are the details for the challenge and a chance to win yourself some Cat Cash:
  1. Every other Tuesday a new challenge will be posted on The Cat’s Pajamas blog and our Facebook page.

  4. On the following TCP Tuesday, the winner will be chosen from the previous challenge and will receive a Cat Cash Voucher for $10 or $15 if a TCP product is used.
I hope you'll stop on by The Cat's Pajamas blog and take a look at the Kitty Cat's creations and link up your own for us to see.

Whimsie Doodles May Challenge

Hi everyone!  It's time for a new monthly challenge over at Whimsie Doodles.  This month we want to see your teacher appreciation or graduation makes.  This challenge is very timely with the school year ending and graduation happening.

I had a hard time deciding which image to choose, but finally decided on the cutie patootie Graduating Hootie (just had to say that :) -

I colored Hootie with Copic Markers and fussy cut him for mounting on the die cut oval.  I used a few of my home melted pony bead dots to add just a little extra color.

I hope you'll find time to join in on our May challenge.  You have until June 13th to enter.  For all the guidelines, take a look here.  Be sure to check out the Whimsie Doodles blog to see what the very creative Diva's have designed.

Thanks for stopping in.

Happy Birthday Dear CRAFT Challenge
Happy Birthday To Us!

Can you believe it? CRAFT Challenge is already 7 years old. Originally started by Tracy from Just Tracy Crafts and with a DT mostly recruited from Trimcraft forum members (Hence the term CRAFT Challenge, which stood for Crafters Residing Are Friendly Trimmies. Or if you wished alternative meaning of Can't Remember A Flipping Thing) on the 4th of May 2009.

We have now grown to be a large team of Design Team Members from all around the world, supplemented with lots of Guest Designers who join us for a month at a time.

We have always welcomed all kinds of craft, not just paper craft (unless specifically stated so in the challenge at the time) and are happy to have such a large group of faithful followers.

So, how are we going to celebrate this milestone?
