Merry Monday #159

Really quick post today.  I wanted to get this card in for the Merry Monday Challenge this week.  Life has not been allowing me much time and the mojo has been in short supply lately, so I was happy to get this simple little card done.

The challenge this week was to use a non-evergreen tree.  I knew right away I wanted to pull out this set from The Cat's Pajamas (unfortunately I think it has been retired).  I had a water colored scrap setting on my table, so I stamped it with Jet Black Archival Ink and color the image with distress markers.  I added some distress stickles for the sand.  The papers are scraps also, I believe from MME, Joyous.  I used a distress reindeer to color the sun and stamped with a sentiment from the same TCP set.  The glittered dots are some I have had for ages in my stash.

I hope all of you in the US enjoy our Memorial Day weekend.  This holiday always brings a flood of emotions for me as I'm sure it does many of you.  My father served in WWII.  He never talked much about it and as a result, I never really told him how proud of his service I was.  I am acutely aware of how my wonderful, blessed life is due in part to the sacrifices of others.

So much for a quick post, everyone, have a great weekend!  Thanks for taking a peek!

Aloha,
Brenda

  1. Awesome card Brenda I love that texture to the Santa suit <3 So many courageous people have have sacrificed much for our freedoms. My heart aches for the traumas of War and I pray for a time of everlasting peace. I am sorry I have not visited much of late, I lost my husband very unexpected recently and my crafting time has taken a back set for a while. I am off to New Zealand on tuesday which is our homeland to scatter half of his ashes with family and then we will come back intern the rest here with a memorial plate so that there is a place for the kids and I to visit. I have not been home in eight years and looking forward to spending time with family and friends there.
