SYS Day 1 Again

OK, last post of homework from Stretch Your Stamps 2.  Here is another card based on the lesson from day one and the background stamp.  This class has really helped me to look beyond the obvious use for my stamps.

Thanks for looking!
Aloha,
Brenda

Supplies:
Paper:  Mohawk Color Copy, Strathmore coldpress watercolor paper
Stamps:  Hero Arts Looped Flower Pattern, Paper Smooches Chit Chat (love this set!)
Watercolors: Koi

SYS Day 1

Another card I make using Day 1 technique with the background stamps and watercolors.  I had trouble getting them to blend well.  One thing I love about these classes is being able to go back at any time a look at the videos again.  Think I will take a look at Watercolor for Card Makers again soon!

Brenda

SYS Day 7 and 8

Do you find that when people learn you are a stamper or a crafter, they kindly give you goodies they thought they wanted but ended up not using?  This stamp was in a set handed down to me by a friend.    It is actually from a set of journaling spots, but I thought it would make a fun repeating background.  There were some air bubbles under the clear stamp that made for some interesting additional texture.
I choose the more masculine colors because I have some "boy" birthdays coming up.  Loved this lesson because it really did make me look at the stamps I have in a completely different way.

Aloha,
Brenda

SYS Day 9

My take on Julie's "Hello Wreath" card.  This was actually my second try, I am overall happy with the way it turned out.  I had to rig up my hello by gluing it to acetate strips.  I love this hello die from Simon Says.
Hope your week is going well!

SYS Day 2-Background Stamps Ombre

More homework from Day 2.  I love blending distress inks.  I never thought about using a background stamp with white embossing powder instead of an embossing folder to add texture.  I was pleased with the way this card turned out.  I did learn there is a difference in embossing powders.  The Ranger and Stampin' UP white embossing powder worked much better for me than another brand I had on hand.

I hope everyone had a restful weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Aloha,
Brenda

SYS 2 Day 3 Alphabet and Sentiment Stamps

My homework is almost a direct CASE of the card done by Julie Ebersole.

I used an alpha set from My Sentiments Exactly that I have had forever.  The sentiment was heat embossed, the other letters stamped in VersaFine Memento London Fog and then the water color ombre background was painted on.  I added a few sequins (treasures purchased during our recent trip) and there ya go!  I just gotta say, I love Julie Ebersole, her laugh is wonderful!

Aloha,
Brenda

Stretch Your Stamps 2, Day 1 Result

Poor neglected blog (and craft room for that matter).  We got our daughter all tucked in at school again.  Right before we left for home, we learned about the TWO hurricanes bearing down on Hawaii.  Thankfully the effects were minimal here on Oahu.  But...I was following the videos during our trip and have had a bit of time to try some of the wonderful techniques.  As I have mentioned before, I am a big fan of these classes.  So here is one of the cards using the Day 1 technique taught by Shari.

This card was created by using the faux watercoloring stamping and tiling technique she so beautifully demonstrated.  I'm not all that happy with the background stamp I used, but the class is all about stretching your stamps, right?  I wanted to use what I had and this was it.  Hopefully will be able to post a few other cards this weekend, I'm still trying to catch up with the "homework".

Aloha,
Brenda
