More Watercolor...

One more card using the techniques from Watercolor for Card Makers.  This technique is from Day 1, the soft watercolor wash background.  I really like the subtle background this technique provides.  I used monochromatic blues from the Koi watercolors on this card.

I wholeheartedly endorse this class!  The techniques were varied in the amount of skill required so some days it was a real stretch for me and other days is was quick and easy.  Either way the teachers provided great instruction.  It was a wonderful source of inspiration and I look forward to playing a lot more and improving my skills with this medium.

Aloha,
Brenda

Loved the watercolor class!

I have loved trying some of the techniques from the On-line Card cCass, Watercolor for Card Makers!  Since we were traveling last week, I have been scrambling to get some cards done before the galleries close.  I am learning you have to both loosen up and have patience (a good heat tool helps with the patience).  Anyway, here a several of the cards I made over that past few days...

I believe this one was one of the "warm up' exercises.  Which was just using watercolors to paint a plaid design.  I used the Mama Elephant stamp and some sequins to make a birthday card.  The colors in real life are much softer.

This technique was from day 2, using distress ink on an acrylic block.  I used only Peacock Feathers for this sample.  I did one using multiple colors which was a good lesson for me on how to muddy colors.  I did finally get a good sample, just haven't made a card with it yet.  On this card the Hello die is by Simon Says Stamps and the card stock is Bazzill.  Enamel dots are more of my converted pony beads.

I guess this would be an example of watercoloring stamped images from Day 6.  I used Simons Says "Best Mom Ever" set to stamp the flowers and sentiment (love this set!!).  I used Distress Ink to achieve the watercolor painting.  I used Stampin' Up white embossing powder to heat emboss the flowers and leaves.  The little circles are stamped with Delicata gold ink.

These two card were from the Bonus Day.  I loved all the techniques on this day and found them very do-able.  I am seeing improvement, less mudding of the colors.  These were made using Distress Inks.  The scoring was done with my small Martha Steward scoreboard.  The sequins and thread were from my stash.  The butterfly is Hero Arts, heat embossed with Stampin' Up white embossing powder and fussy cut.  Happy Birthday is Winnie and Walter from "Big Bold You".  The sequins and thread were from my stash and the butterfly antenna were created with wire and seed beads.  All the watercolor paper is Kid Made Modern from Target.

I love this class!  I am finding it challenging and very creatively inspiring.  And, I agree with Laura, placing sequins/enamel dots is not as simple as it would seem:)

Have a great week!

Brenda
